Your Initial Medicare enrollment starts 3 months before the month you turn age 65, and includes the month you turn age 65, and continues for 3 months after the age you turn 65.
There is an exception to this rule however. If you turn 65 the first day of the month, Your Initial Medicare Enrollment Period starts 3 months prior to the month you were born, and includes the month you turn age 65, and continues for 2 months after the age you turn 65.
During this time, you can buy any Medicare insurance you want, Guaranteed issued! That means, No Medical Questions!
When does Medicare start?
On the first day of the month you were born.
Unless, you were born on the first day of the month. Then, it would start on the first day of the month prior to the month you were born.
